Backed by nearly 15 years of academic experience, Dr. Song has worked as an assistant professor with Soonchunhyang University since 2013. Earlier in his career, he completed an internship and a residency with the University, before pursuing and completing a fellowship with Seoul National University.
A graduate of Soonchunhyang University, Dr. Song holds a Doctor of Medicine, a Master of Medicine, and a PhD in Medicine. Additionally, he is certified in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery. In order to remain active and engaged in the field, he affiliates himself with The Korean Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, and The Korean Association for Thoracic Surgical Oncology.
Throughout his career thus far, he has contributed his vast breadth of knowledge to a number of articles in journals such as Interactive Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, the Annals of Thoracic Surgery, the European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon, Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
Along with other scholars, Dr. Song has covered a variety of topics, including prognostic factors of pulmonary metastasis from colorectal carcinoma predictive factors for node metastasis in patients with clinical stage I non-small cell lung cancer, prognostic factors for post-recurrence survival in patients with completely resected Stage I non-small cell lung cancer, the role of maximum standardized uptake value in PET/CT as a prognostic factor in patients with resected esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, clinical application of single incision thoracoscopic surgery: early experience of 264 cases, and can single-incision thoracoscopic surgery using a wound protector be used as a first-line approach for the surgical treatment of primary spontaneous pneumothorax? A comparison with three-port video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. In the near future, Dr. Song intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career.
