Inn The Trees - Creating a Unique Treehouse and Earthen Dwelling Lodging Establishment in Western North Carolina

Inn The Trees is a unique treehouse, earthen dwelling and campground eco-resort dedicated to sustainability, community building and creating a deep connection with the natural beauty of the North Carolina Mountains

ASHEVILLE, NC, January 28, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Have you ever wanted to spend the night in a tree house? Have you ever wanted to stay in an earthen dwelling like a hobbit? At Inn The Trees we want to make those dreams come true!

Joseph and Kathleen have already invested over $50,000 of personal savings into the land preparation, plans, and ground work. Money is needed to finalize infrastructure and continue with construction. The $50,000 that is being asked for will aid in the construction of 3 treehouses, 4 earthen dwellings as well as the community bathhouse, kitchen, and lodge. The money will be put towards building supplies, labor, inspections and other costs related to construction endeavors. Whether the entire goal is met or not, the money will be put towards the completion of the project.

Inn The Trees is located on a beautiful 11-acre mountainside of old growth forest, with bold rock faces at the top and a large rushing creek at the bottom. There is currently a wood burning sauna and tire swing with plans for a wood-burning hot tub. Trails on the property lead you from a quick dip in the cool creek up through the forest to an overhanging cave and along the granite walls of Bear Wallow Mountain. There are many amenities nearby including the micro-brew capital of the USA, Asheville, NC, only 25 minutes away, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock state park are 5 minutes down the street. The area is known worldwide for its amazing hiking and waterfalls; all in close proximity to Inn The Trees.

Inn The Trees is a place where fantastical ideas come true, especially for creators Joseph and Kathleen Vicars. As world travelers, they have been to many wonderful places and have met many interesting people. Their adventures are what inspired them to share their love and passion of the outdoors. Inn The Trees will be a place for people to come together and re-establish their love of natural beauty and childlike wonder. The Vicars have a passion for bringing people together in natural environments and highlighting the uniqueness of the North Carolina Mountains.

The dream began for the couple after many years of backpacking around the world. With a daydream that developed into a business plan, they set out in search for a suitable locale. After 5 years of dreaming, reworking the plan, and having many real estate heartbreaks, they finally found an amazing property complete with a mountainside, a beautiful stretch of forest and a tumbling, crystal-clear creek. Since the purchase of the property, many hours, dollars and happy times have been put into preparing the land, with each step taking the Vicars closer to the amazing nature-inspired retreat that Inn The Trees is yearning to be.

A large portion of construction materials will be gathered from the local area. Lumber will be sourced and milled primarily from the property. Reclaimed wood is currently being gathered to help reduce waste and repurpose discarded materials. Water will be derived from a well on the property in addition to cisterns that will collect large amounts of rainfall each year. Electric energy for the resort will come from hydroelectric power, created by Hickory Nut Creek that flows through the property. Small wind turbines will be mounted on some structures and trees to harness the natural wind energy. Each rental unit will be equipped with a small woodburning stove to cozy up to in the cooler months. Concepts are currently coming together to use recycled plastic bottles and wrappers as insulation for structures. Progress is already being made on a garden facility on property that will grow organic vegetables, fruits, and herbs.Future plans also incorporate facilities for chickens, goats and potentially a trout farm.
