Instant Best Seller Author Tackles Sexual Assault "Epidemic", Discloses Her Own Rape

New book calls attention to victims of rape and sexual assault. Author makes public her own rape and the impacts on her life. Book released as part of national Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

NEW YORK, NY, October 25, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sexual assault is both a crime and a traumatic experience with effects that can span a lifetime --an act of violence and emotional abuse against the many women, men and children who experience it daily.

A new book seeks to draw attention to the problems of sexual assault, rape and sexual abuse.

Entitled "RAPE: An Attack on the Spirit & Soul: My True Story & How Others Can Benefit", the book is a true and very personal story of the author.

She notes: "The story is about the fact that I was raped - including what happened, how it happened, why it happened, how it affected my life and what it means to me now." She goes on: "I'm dedicating the book to all who have suffered from sexual assault and I wish them (us) the courage, strength and self-respect to persevere."

The book has been released during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The designated Month evolved from a "Day of Unity" held in October 1981 and conceived by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The book is available on Amazon.com. Its theme is sexual assault recovery.

The connection to Domestic Violence Awareness Month relates to a simple fact: most people don't understand that sexual assault and rape take place not just on the streets but inside of our homes with people we know.

Violence in the home (the domicile) can occur at the hands of a spouse, other partner, other family member or even a friend or a date. Rape is a form of violent action that is aggressive and abusive of another person and that constitutes sexual assault.

The effects of rape and other domestic abuse are physical but the emotional impacts can be even worse. While physical wounds can involve great pain (and in some cases death) wounds to the body tend to heal. By contrast, emotional wounds tend to live on and affect a person's life deeply, sometimes for the rest of their life. Emotional wounds can torment a person to the point of ruining their life.

Domestic violence is defined by experts to encompass physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and emotional abuse.

Under the Bush Administration (2003), the U.S. Surgeon General declared domestic violence to be the number one health concern in the country. It remains a problem of vast proportions today.

The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence Website notes: "The physical and emotional scars of domestic violence can cast a long shadow. Too many individuals, regardless of age, ability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, circumstance, or race, face the pain and fear of domestic violence. During National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we shine a light on this violation of the basic human right to be free from violence and abuse, pledge to ensure every victim of domestic violence knows they are not alone, and foster supportive communities that help survivors seek justice and enjoy full and healthy lives."

"RAPE: An Attack on the Spirit & Soul: My True Story & How Others Can Benefit" has fast become a Best Seller e-book on Amazon.com. The author offers candid insights on emotional abuse and rape. She also shares related experiences involving not just "everyday people" but Narcissists, sexual predators, sex addicts and others with anti-social behaviors.

The book and further details about it are available through the Kindle section of Amazon.com.
