Integrative Psychiatrists Richard P. Brown and Patricia Gerbarg Teach Stress and Trauma Reduction for Disasters to Healthcare Workers at Kripalu Center

Healthcare providers will learn innovative, healing, Breath-Body-Mind techniques that will help stressed and traumatized populations during and after disasters.

LOS ANGELES, CA, June 22, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard P. Brown, MD, and Patricia Gerbarg, MD, together with yoga therapist Heather Mason, are instructors for the innovative Breath-Body-Mind Teacher Training for Stress, Trauma, Transformation and Well-Being, June 23-28, 2013, Sunday evening through Friday noon, at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, MA. The workshop, eligible for CE credits, will teach mind-body healing techniques to reduce stress, recover from trauma, relief physical discomforts, and enhance quality of life.

The classes are for therapists, yoga teachers, clergy, school teachers, physicians, psychologists, nurses, physical therapists and other healthcare providers working with stressed or traumatized populations.

Breath-Body-Mind integrates ancient and modern trauma-sensitive techniques to rapidly balance stress-response systems for self-care and healing others. Developed by integrative psychiatrists Richard P. Brown and Patricia Gerbarg, Breath-Body-Mind has proven benefits for healthcare professionals, military veterans, and patients with anxiety disorders, depression, and PTSD. Many people who have practiced these techniques, such as survivors of mass disasters, including the Asia tsunami, 9/11 World Trade Center, Haiti earthquake, Horizon Gulf oil spill, Rwanda genocide, and slavery in Sudan, say they never would have imagined something so simple could be so powerful and helpful.

The workshop is approved for Continuing Education credits as follows:
- 23.5 credits for Certified Counselors (NBCC), $20 additional charge
- 23.5 credits for Social Workers (SW), $20 additional charge
- 36 credits for Yoga Alliance (YA), $20 additional charge
- 23.5 credits for Psychologists (PSY), $20 additional charge
- 24 credits for Nurses (NURS), $20 additional charge
- 36 credits for Athletic Trainers (BOC), $20 additional charge
