NASHVILLE, TN, December 06, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Builders aren't building as much — and as shown by Circuit City's recent Chapter 11 filing, the home electronics sector isn't doing so well, either. In a business climate like this, innovation isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.

So how about a novel partnership between a residential home builder and a structured cabling specialist? Well-known builders like Fox Ridge Homes, Beazer Homes and Ford Custom Classic Homes (among others) have teamed up with Interactive Systems to outfit new homes with a dazzling array of integrated home systems and technologically advanced wiring: everything from life safety to home theater, audio/video and beyond. The result: higher customer satisfaction and a healthier bottom line.

"Builders view us as a long-term strategic partner who adds real value for their new-home customers," says Mike Ralph, Interactive Systems CEO. "Although some builders were originally a bit hesitant to grant us access to their customers, they quickly saw that the experience was extremely positive and actually helped solidify their relationships with homebuyers, all while generating additional profits."
Goodall Homes, based in Gallatin, is one beneficiary of this innovative partnering. "When we were looking to upgrade our buyers' experience with us, we realized that the area of home theater and home wiring technology could be the answer," says Todd Reynolds, VP of Sales and Marketing. "We visited the showroom at Interactive, were very impressed and quickly developed a relationship. The result has been a truly enhanced homebuilding experience for our buyers, and more sales for us."

Interactive partners with builders to offer its products and services to new-home buyers before their houses are built. Prospective homebuyers learn about Interactive via literature left in the builder's model homes or directly from the builder's agents. The sales agents subsequently make appointments for a tour of the Interactive showroom, and the homeowner can then make their selections on the spot.

"First-time visitors are often surprised at the level of technology that's available to them," says Michael Jacques, an Interactive sales representative. A guided tour of the showroom offers visitors the firsthand experience of booming surround sound as well as a home cinema room. You can also see a complete demonstration of a whole-house cleaning system, or closed-circuit TV cameras in action. "People are 'wowed' by the experience and have a hard time deciding how to allocate their budget, but almost everyone who visits the showroom ends up adding options onto their new home. Many times the purchase can be rolled in the cost of the home, making it even more irresistible."

The unique aspect of Interactive's business is that everything is designed to be built into the home at the time of construction — from the wiring in the walls to the security system that's connected to it. This kind of structured cabling is also called a "smart wiring" because of the highly computerized control and automation of home functions like Internet and phone connections, alarm systems, and audio/video. Once the wiring is in, any number of devices can be connected to it: anything from high-end HD TVs and in-wall speaker systems to whole-house audio, all of which connect to that one structured wiring panel.

Even if the customer doesn't buy a specific system during construction, installing structured cabling allows them to connect a system later on. Once the wiring is installed, any number of devices can be connected to it, from HD TVs, surround systems, in-wall or in-ceiling speakers and more.
"We expect to continue growing market share despite the current slowdown," says Ralph. "We've recently added Celebration Homes and Goodall Builders to our list of builder-partners and will continue to pursue relationships with other quality builders because it's so beneficial for everyone involved."
