/24-7PressRelease/ - MIAMI, FL, May 03, 2007 - Parental Alienation Awareness Organization (PAAO) organized and received information covering numerous national and international events designed to focus awareness on Parental Alienation and Hostile Aggressive Parenting.

In the United States, PAAO co-sponsored the Parental Alienation Workshop 2007 in Palmetto, Florida. The Workshop featured well-known experts in the area of law, mental health, and child suggestibility research.

PAAO also wishes to thank the following governors for either their Proclamations or recognitions of April 25th as Parental Alienation Awareness Day: Governor Schweitzer of Montana, Governor Fletcher of Kentucky, Governor Heineman of Nebraska, Governor Vilsack of Iowa, Governor Baldacci of Maine, Governor Gibbons of Nevada, Governor Rell of Connecticut, and Governor Daniels of Indiana.

Other events included: a non-custodial rally in Des Moines, Iowa; a candlelight vigil in Boston; a courthouse rally in Pennsylvania; a courthouse march in Las Vegas; a comedy show in Montana; a think tank in Chicago; and a number of media events throughout the US and Canada. Many organizations, both nationally and internationally, joined in for a global effort to commemorate April 25th as Parental Alienation Awareness Day.

Internationally, events included: a forum in Bermuda; a Declaration of Family Rights and a convention of mental health professionals in Mexico; a rally in Segovia, Spain, at the Palacio de Justicia; posting of banners in Canada; a rally in Italy; recognitions and events in Argentina, New Zealand, the UK, France, Brussels, Brazil, Germany, and Netherlands.

People were urged to sign a Petition to be directed to the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations entitled, "In the Interests of Children".

PAAO provided flyers, brochures, and posters which could be downloaded from the website at: http://www.paawareness.org to be distributed to school personnel, mental health and legal professionals, clergy, youth leaders, Scout leaders, legislators, and media.

"We are looking to make Parental Alienation and Hostile Aggressive Parenting part of the public vocabulary," stated Sarvy Emo, President and co-founder of Parental Alienation Awareness Organization.

"Only when such behaviors, as speaking negatively about a parent, interfering with communication and visitation, moving and leaving no contact information, and discussing such inappropriate topics as details of the marriage and divorce, can be recognized for the harm they can do to children, will we be able to address solutions to these situations," adds Robin Denison, Vice President and co-founder of Parental Alienation Awareness Organization.
