/24-7PressRelease/ - YORK, UK, August 17, 2008 - The Institute, to be based in Nowy Sącz, southern Poland, will be among the leading European centres for educational technology. Over the next five years, specialists in internet technologies at EITE will be conducting research in the field of e-learning and working on three related projects.
The first area EITE will be focusing on is the use of technology in the education sector. It will support the development of technology to be used in teaching at schools and universities, and it is hoped this will spread to private training centres and enterprises. A long term goal is for EITE to supply its own educational services, which will utilise information technology and the internet to enhance teaching and learning.
EITE will also be looking at how modern advancements in Information Technology can be used to develop and support innovative teaching methods. Some of the new methods being examined include; interactive education games, virtual learning environments, mobile teaching systems, assessment and testing systems.
Finally, the Institute is aiming to improve the employability of learners through the development of new skills. To this end, EITE will be driving local and international initiatives and policies which promote the use of technology in education.
One of the co-founders of EITE, MyKnowledgeMap, already have vast amounts of experience of developing modern technologies for use in teaching. Since 2000, they have built up an impressive and varied client list, from leading UK universities, to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
On signing the foundation contract of EITE, Rob Arnsten, the founder of MyKnowledgeMap said, 'We are pleased to be able to work at the growth of modern education technologies for building a better future together with the Multimedia City and Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu-National-Louis University in Nowy Sącz. We are convinced that the agreement signed today is one of the crucial moments for the development of e-learning in Poland and Europe'.
Krzysztof Pawlowski, WSB-NLU President also emphasized the importance of the steps being taken, 'With this agreement WSB-NLU is entering a whole new area. ..we are becoming a co-producer of the most modern technologies of this kind of teaching'.
The CEO of the Multimedia City, Krzysztof Wnęk explains the role EITE has to play, 'I believe that the European Institute for Technology in Education will become an important R&D centre for the new technologies, which will go towards the further development of our project. Together with MyKnowledgeMap we are able to create here in Nowy Sącz a real factory for educational software which will appeal to a wide range of customers'.
