Last month during International Sharps Injury Prevention Awareness Month, ISIPS honored recipients for reducing sharps injuries. Clarke was nominated for the award by Vicki Pascasio, president and CEO of Healthshare/Texas Hospital Association. In her nomination, Pascasio wrote, "Gareth Clarke recognized the need for a resurgence of dialog to reestablish needlestick prevention as a priority. Using his leadership and creativity, he led efforts to research, document and raise awareness about the current state of needlestick prevention and opportunities for safety syringe design improvement.
