/24-7PressRelease/ - MARINA DEL REY, CA - March 05, 2006 - What role does the Catholic Church play in Latino power politics and the illegal immigration issue? These are questions addressed in a nine (9) minute Internet Video comprised of video clips from Full Disclosure interviews with Dr.Fernando Guerra of Loyola Marymount University and California Senator Dick Mountjoy (ret). This video is available for viewing free "on demand" 24/7 at the URL: http://www.fulldisclosure.net/flash/411-412_Mountjoy.htm as a public service of the Full Disclosure Network .

When asked about Latino power politics and the Catholic Church, Loyola Marymount University's Fernando Guerra said "the Cardinal feels a responsibility, as do most of the Church hierarchy, that they have to educate their parishioners on what they believe are important issues" and he went on to say that while the Catholic Church, the Archdiocese, never directly spent money in the campaign against Proposition 187 (1994) they do utilize their resources to try to mobilize Catholics in general and Latinos specifically.

Senator Mountjoy points out the special interests of the U. S. banking industry and how they and the Mexican economy are benefiting from illegal immigration to the United States. Also appearing in this video are Nativo Lopez of the Mexican American Political Association (MAPA) and Xavier Reyes of CHIRLA who explain why they believe it is important to issue drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.

Former State Senator Dick Mountjoy, the author of the Save Our License Constitutional Amendment initiative, generally disagreed with Guerra. "I don't believe the Catholic Church is going to mobilize thousands of people and have them believe that we ought to let people flood in here from around the world illegally." "This is a matter of their pocketbook. This is a matter of survival, a matter of competing with those illegally here for jobs." Mountjoy said.

Included in this presentation hosted by Full Disclosure Emmy Award winning producer/host Leslie Dutton is Senator Mountjoy's reaction to statements made by Dr. Fernando Guerra who serves as Director of the Center for the Studies of Los Angeles at Loyola Marymount University. Full Disclosure interviews have documented the frustration and confusion of government officials and public agencies over conflicting local and federal policies impacting illegal immigrants.
