In a survey conducted by Intrepid Travel of its passengers globally, 68.6 per cent of respondents said voluntourism was of interest to them and only 6.2 per cent said it wasn't.
"These trips are really popular with younger passengers and we hope the incentive motivates some to spend their university holidays seeing and contributing to the world," said Intrepid Travel CEO and Co-founder, Darrell Wade.

Travelers could find themselves renovating a local school, building a healthcare clinic or teaching a busy classroom of up to 100 kids. Intrepid Travel's most popular volunteering trip is its 14 day 'Ghana teaching & building'. Home to some of Africa's friendliest people, Ghana is where Intrepid Volunteering began. Travelers join a group of like-minded volunteers to experience and contribute to daily life in a small Ghanaian village. Travelers might find themselves building infrastructure to the support the community's needs or teaching in a rural school. The trip starts from USD $1455, including all meals when on site, transport (excluding flights) and accommodation.
