Iowa Man Sets Out To Prove the American Dream Is a Reality

North Liberty, Iowa resident Chad Kent is voluntarily leaving his job to prove that the American Dream is still alive by earning $30,000 before May 31st.

/24-7PressRelease.com/ -- North Liberty, IA October 7, 2004 – At a time when some Americans are nervous about unemployment numbers, Chad Kent is voluntarily quitting his job to prove that the American Dream is still alive. Kent, a current resident of North Liberty, IA, has informed his employer that he will be leaving his position at Hills Bank on May 31st of next year because he believes he can earn $30,000 before that date. While $30,000 may not seem like much to some, it would be nearly twice what he earned throughout all of 2003.

Kent plans to find ways to earn money that don’t involve collecting a check from an employer. He says that at this point he’s not quite sure how he’s going to make the money. “I’m going to look into investing or hopefully creating some business opportunities of my own. I know the money is out there, I just have to be creative.” Of course, this task is going to be made a lot more difficult by the fact that he’s only allowing himself to use $2,000 of his own cash or credit to use towards achieving his goal.

What would drive a man with a good job to take such a risk? “I just really love the United States and truly believe in the opportunities it offers,” said Kent. “Hopefully I can encourage other people who feel like they’re stuck in their situation…besides, I love the opportunity to disprove all the negative people I see who try to say the American Dream is dead.”

Kent plans to keep a journal on his Web site (www.4thelittleguy.com) so that everyone can keep track of his progress over the next eight months. Today, Chad Kent is beginning to look for ways to earn the $30,000 that he says will prove the American Dream is still alive. When asked what he will do if he fails to meet his goal, Kent said he’s never really even considered it.
