IS DAVID BLAINE FOR REAL? WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE?
Escape Artist and Illusionist Curtis Eugene Lovell II Wants To Prove That Blaine's Greatest Illusion Is Fooling The Public

/24-7PressRelease/ - LOS ANGELES, CA, June 19, 2006 - Now that Blaine has failed yet another stunt, seen by millions last month on television, his adversary, Curtis Eugene Lovell II, the world-renowned escape artist, illusionist and magician, is calling him on his lackluster performances by challenging him to a dual face-off to test his skill level and entertainment value.

The challenge entails each escape artist producing the most dangerous magic stunt and successfully performing it in front of a live audience and on national television. Lovell would like the viewers to choose whose death-defying performance was most stunning.

According to Lovell, Blaine's mastery is only his ability to manipulate the public into believing he is attempting dangerous illusions or stunts when in reality, he is performing beginner level-type stunts. "Blaine is only a master of deceit," said Lovell. "He has not attempted any sort of stunt that is complex and that others can't perform. He plays the death-card scenario to cause drama and attract attention, while making a mockery of the magic industry. Blaine has tricked the public into believing he is one of the greatest illusionist of all time and I want to prove to the public that he is a fake."

Since his last stunt, which entailed staying under water for nine minutes, failed, Blaine's reputation as a master of illusions has started to falter. Over the last several years, other illusionists from around the world have also questioned his so-called stunts and his fondness for commercialism.

"Houdini built his reputation on performing death-defying escapes and magic tricks by pushing the envelope," said Lovell. "Blaine is not pushing the envelope, instead he takes simple stunts, calls them dangerous challenges, and pushes his public image, all in the hopes of increasing his monetary value. Houdini would be very unimpressed and disappointed as a master escape artist."

Regarding the challenge, Lovell said he welcomes Blaine to take him on anytime and anywhere.

About Lovell
Lovell, who resides in the Los Angeles area, has mastered the art of illusions and escapes and is a self-taught businessman. Some of his more daring stunts include being lifted 50 feet in the air above buildings, chained to two steel plates and then submerged into oceans and rivers. His greatest spectacle to date is the "Cube of Death," a dangerous stunt that lead to the demise of the great Harry Houdini in 1926. Lovell can be seen cutting and dicing the world's most famous heiress, Paris Hilton, in her television reality show, The Simple Life. Additionally, he has just released his first instructional magic DVD, Poof! You are a Magician.
