/24-7PressRelease/ -- On April 25, San Marcos will be buzzing with a wide array of annual events: Art on the Square, Earth Day Celebration, La Feria del Mariachi 2009 and Roar at the River Bike Show and Rally.
The San Marcos Area Arts Council and Dormous Fantabulous will host the third annual Art on the Square from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. downtown San Marcos around the courthouse square. San Marcos' creative community is highlighted as local artists exhibit and sell their work. Artwork will be displayed from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Free admission.
Celebrate the third annual Aquarena Earth Day Celebration from 12 - 6 p.m. at Texas State University-San Marcos' Aquarena Center. This year's event will include a blessing of the springs, distinguished speakers, educational booths, a Native American concert, vendor booths and Texas State student organizations. Recreational activities include glass-bottom kayak and boat tours. Free admission.
Texas State University-San Marcos School of Music will host La Feria del Mariachi 2009 at Texas State University's Strahan Coliseum. The festival will celebrate Mexican-American music and culture. Artists include: Mariachi Los Arrieros del Valle, Mariachi Nueva Generacion, Mariachi Lince de Oro, Mariachi Infantil and Master of ceremonies Alberto Alegre. Admission is $15 for preferred seating, $10 for general admission and $5 for students and children.
LULAC 4876 presents the second annual Roar at the River Bike Show and Rally from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at San Marcos City Park. Festivities include live music, a poker run, bike show, washer toss tournament, chili cook-off, prize money and a variety of vendors. Proceeds will benefit Hays County scholarships. Free ground admission.
