CORK, IRELAND, February 16, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ivan Lavelle recently gave a popular presentation on effective direct marketing at the Cork Chamber of Commerce. The presentation was titled "Mafia Marketing - Make them an offer they can't refuse" and highlighted a scene from the 1972 movie "The Godfather" as an example of successful direct marketing.
In the movie mafia boss Don Corleone sets about the task of persuading an unwilling movie director to cast his godson in his next movie. His marketing strategy was simple and basically involved making him an offer he couldn't refuse.
Ivan is a prominent member of the Cork Chamber of Commerce and regularly is asked to speak at their events. He is also MD of Forza Direct Marketing based in Cork City.
In his presentation, Ivan compared the technique of leaving a horse's head in the director's bed to an effective direct marketing campaign.
He made the point that this act was highly personalised, created instant brand awareness and had a 100% open rate, response rate & conversion rate which are key performance indicators for a successful marketing campaign.
The presentation was successful and Ivan received good feedback on how unique, entertaining and informative it was.
