J & D Innovative Solutions Asks, Are You MADE to be an Entrepreneur?

After Hiscox Insurance released a recent report into the DNA of an entrepreneur, J and D Innovative Solutions investigates into what makes entrepreneurs tick and whether people are genetically made to pursue entrepreneurship.

J & D Innovative Solutions looked at further conclusions from the report and share their findings;

Investing in Their Businesses - The study found that 23 percent of business owners reinvested their profits into their businesses, and 25 percent have increased workforce numbers this year.

Social Media - Social media continues to be a crucial tool for businesses. The top two rated by business owners in the study were Facebook and LinkedIn, with 56 and 49 percent relying on them respectively.

Challenges - With the main challenge still being attaining financial funding, it is reported that 11 percent of business owners are relying on family and friends, 13 percent took out a personal loan and 21 percent are relying on credit cards to help fund their businesses.

J & D Innovative Solutions believes the findings are promising but disagree that anyone is genetically made to be suited to entrepreneurship and instead argue that there are common traits that can be taught to encourage entrepreneurial success. The firm has listed five below.

Have passion for the business. Passion helps overcome difficult moments; it also helps professionals attract the best people during a recruitment drive. If passion is suffering during a tough time, make a list of all the reasons the business was started as this will help refocus and renew passion.

Be flexible, except with core values. No matter the pressure for immediate profits, do not compromise on core values. Do however have flexibility on plans and how to achieve success.

Don't let fear of failure hold you back. Failure is an opportunity to learn. It's better to have failed and learnt than never tried at all.

Make timely decisions. Procrastination leads to missed opportunities. Planning is great but sometimes in business quick decisions need to be made, and always use intuition.

Periodically get out of your comfort zone to pursue something important. For development to take place there needs to be periods of feeling uncomfortable.
