Jack 'John T. Jr.' Gilmore is famed for decades of professional contributions to the IT industry

MILFORD, NH, January 15, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jack (John T. Jr.) Gilmore has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who as an expert in systems programming and performance analysis. He is President of Comparative Visual Assessments Inc., a management-consulting firm that specializes in performance analysis, which he founded in 1994.

Jack (John T. Jr.) Gilmore is the sole inventor of a patented methodology for utilizing vector analysis and statistics to produce hierarchical oriented VectorCharts to provide a more effective performance analysis tool to depict the performance strengths and weaknesses of an array of subjects, be they be people, features, concepts, places, medicines, patients, strategies, economies, etc. Prior to forming Comparative Visual Assessments Inc., Mr. Gilmore's career included:

1. A Bachelor of Science in Physics from Boston College (1950). Jack attended the prestigious college on a 4-year scholarship as a result of breaking the high jump record at a track meet at Phillips Andover Academy. He was also a high hurdler.

2. MIT Project Whirlwind Mathematics Group (Oct. 1950 - Oct. 1952). Under the guide of his mentor, Charles Adams, Manager of the Mathematics Group, Jack wrote the first Assembly Program along with a variety of utility programs and then improved the assembler to support the assembly of symbolic addressed subroutines and helped develop the procedures and use of subroutines from a paper tape library of subroutines. He also developed the debugging utilities for an interpretive programming language developed by Charles Adams.

3. U.S. Navy (Oct. 1952 - Oct, 1956) and Reserve Duty until 1960. During his first 18 months in the Navy, Jack was a U.S. Naval Air Cadet and qualified as a carrier pilot in September of 1953 and in advanced training as an AD-1 Dive Bomber Pilot in March of 1954. During the next 30 months, he served as U.S. Night Anti-Submarine Carrier Pilot flying AF2S Grumman Torpedo Bombers, and later, S2f -1 twin engine Atomic Depth Charge bombers in ASW Squadron VS 39. He then served in Squadron VS912 for four years as a weekend Warrior S2f -1 pilot at the Naval Air Station in Weymouth, Mass. He is listed as a U.S. Navy S2f Pilot.

4. Advanced Computer Research Group at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Computer Research Group (Oct. 1956 - Oct. 1959). As a member of the Advanced Computer Research Group, Jack wrote the first personal computer operating system called "The TX-0 Direct Input Utility System" and was the logical designer of one of the first on line work stations called the MIT Lincoln Writer using a program he wrote called, "The Scope Writer," which became the first text and tablet editor which he used to create scientific characters and text that could contain graphic figures as well. Another project included the writing of a program called the "Moving Window Display" which simulated a laboratory oscilloscope. It was used by a team of scientists to determine an algorithm for recognizing the "Sleeping Spindle" wave form in EEG brain recordings.

5. Co-founded Charles W. Adams Associates and Keydata Corporation (Oct. 1959 - May 1974). Jack served first as a Vice President of Adams Associates and, years later from 1967 to 1974, as President of its division, Keydata Corporation. The main expertise of Adams Associates was on-line-in-real-time and process control software development. Its most significant achievement was the development of the first Electronic Drafting Machine. Keydata Corporation was the first commercial time sharing company serving 350 terminal sites in 25 states and three provinces of Canada.

6. Digital Equipment Corporation (Sept. 1974 to 1992). Jack served on the staff of Digital for the next 18 years in various managerial and technical roles in their Office Automation efforts. He designed Digital's Gold Key Word Processing user interface in 1975, became Product Group Manager for Word Processing Systems and later as Technical Manager for the Engineering Group which produced Digital's Electronic Mail and All-in-One Office Automation System. His last assignment was Director of Comparative Analysis before his retirement in 1992 to return to the consulting field.

7. Comparative Visual Assessments Incorporated (1994). After two years of programming and testing, Jack founded Comparative Visual Assessments Inc. in 1994 and introduced his performance analysis software on an IBM Laptop. Jack's passion is to encourage companies, the government, academic institutions, medical, legal and sport communities to embrace the graphic use of vectors and statistics for ALL of their performance analysis reviews.

He is the sole inventor of two patents, one for Digital Equipment and one for his own firm.

Jack was honored to be included in the 'Lexikon History of Individuals: Computer Pioneers, Scientists, Entrepreneurs' and recognized as a computer pioneer at the Siggraph Conference in 1989. Houghton Mifflin also included him in its 'The History of Science and Technology' by Bryan Bunch and Alexander Hellmans for man machine communications research on the TX-0 computer. In 1969, he was elected to the International Registry of Who's Who at Geneva, Switzerland.

He attributes his success to the education he received at Boston College as well as courses at MIT, Boston University and Rivier College. He credits his leadership abilities to the time he acquired as a U.S. Navy Carrier Pilot. He maintains that his strongest talent is tenacity.

In his spare time, he volunteers as a Catholic Eucharistic Minister with the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands in Sandwich, MA.

Jack intends to continue his work in performance analysis consulting. His highest priority is to provide the business community with more sophisticated performance analysis techniques.
