SAN DIEGO, CA, February 03, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- San Diego remodeling firm Jackson Design & Remodeling (JDR) announced today it has won two regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) Awards, as chosen by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).

As regional winners, the projects will now automatically advance to the National CotY awards that will be announced at NARI's "Evening of Excellence" award ceremony Saturday, April 21 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.

"Winning a CotY award is like winning a SAG award," said Todd Jackson, President and CEO of JDR. "To be acknowledged for our work by our peers in the industry is very special. We're proud of our team and their commitment to excellence. This is a tremendous honor."

JDR's CotY first win came in the category Residential Bath over $60,000 for the remodel of a master bathroom in Scripps Ranch, Calif. The central focal point of the new bathroom is a Japanese soaking tub, a custom from the homeowner's Japanese heritage. A linen imprint on the sand colored porcelain tile flooring adds visual interest with texture. Warm caramel tones in the cabinetry balance with the cool sea blue-green glass tile walls. Horizontal bamboo cabinetry adds plentiful organized storage to the room. A tall vertical cabinet contains a hamper on the bottom and space for linen storage above. The architectural lines throughout the room are clean and simple, while materials are rich with texture. The result is a tranquil master bathroom that soothes the senses and brings the ancient ritual of Japanese soaking to the modern environment.

JDR also won in the category Residential Kitchen $80,000 to $120,000 for a kitchen design that expresses the clients' love for art. Materials were carefully selected to bring light and texture to the room. The glass tile backsplash was meticulously installed to wrap cleanly throughout the space and chosen in the same color as the existing floor's grout for tonal balance. A slate gray countertop contrasts with the lighter glass tile backsplash and balances with the colors of the existing floor. Subtle interplays of texture, tone and color define the space. Rather than placing the standard chandelier or recessed lighting in the kitchen's soffit, JDR's designers chose to make a statement with a dramatic custom-designed light fixture made from recycled materials.

An impartial panel of judges who are experts within the industry and associated fields, selected winners based on each entrant's "before and after" photography and project description. Judging was based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.

Serving the San Diego area since 1989, Jackson and his team have served more than 2,000 clients. The company has won acclaim for its unique design build process, which guide clients through the planning and implementation of remodeling projects and draws on a team approach to inspire creativity and ensure the entire process is seamless.
