Jackson Design and Remodeling Continues Winning Streak: San Diego Company Brings Home Three NARI 2018 Regional CotY Awards

One of the first design industry awards programs of the year, the CotYs are known to predict the design industry projects that will top podiums in 2018

SAN DIEGO, CA, February 21, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jackson Design and Remodeling (JDR) announced today that the company has won three 2018 Southwest Regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) Awards from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). The CotYs are the first major industry awards program and typically act as a predictor of the winning projects across the nation this year. In the past, JDR's CotY winning projects have gone on to win NKBA, ASID, Chrysalis, HGTV and Master Design awards.

Each year, NARI presents CotY awards to members who have demonstrated outstanding work through their remodeling projects. This is the highest form of recognition by industry leaders and peers. This year 26 judges reviewed over 400 entries totaling over $123 million in remodeling projects. JDR's winning projects came in the categories Residential Addition over $250,000, Entire Home $250,000-$500,000 and Entire Home $500,001 - $750,000.

"We've gotten off to a strong start in 2018," said JDR CEO Todd Jackson. "We are honored to have three amazing projects in the running and I am proud of the work of our talented designers. We look forward to the national awards program in April and to bringing a win back to San Diego!"

Contractors from seven regions around the country vie for CotY Awards each year. Judging is based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, and degree of difficulty by an impartial panel of industry experts. All regional winners automatically advance to the national CotY awards and will be honored at the Evening of Excellence reception on April 20 in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the 2018 National CotY Winners will also be announced.

JDR's three 2018 winning projects are:

Residential Addition Over $250,000
Designer: Sol Quintana Wagoner, Senior Interior Designer, Allied ASID, CGP
In a home with a strong architectural statement and panoramic views of the ocean, an empty nester couple wanted to embrace the beauty of their natural surroundings while respecting the significant architectural integrity of their contemporary home. With no land to expand on, an imaginative design solution was achieved with the relocation of the kitchen and an addition on the second level. The addition was meticulously designed to seem as if it was always intended as part of the home. Inside, the open design now avoids any protrusions that distract from amazing ocean views while integrating an expansive outdoor living space.

Entire Home $250,000 to $500,000
Designer: Rosella Gonzalez, Senior Interior Designer, Allied ASID
Designed for a young professional couple with a growing family who plan to live in their Ocean Beach home for many years to come, individually customized elements infuse this home with personal expression. The existing space had some elements the clients appreciated and wanted to preserve but it needed significant transformation to achieve the fresh and rustic Mid Century Modern feeling they desired. The new design takes advantage of the hilltop home's panoramic ocean views, connecting the stimulating indoor space to the breathtaking outdoor environment.

Entire Home $500,001 to $750,000
Designer: Alison Green, Senior Interior Designer, Allied ASID, AKBD
Designed for a couple with a mutual love of travel and family but different tastes in color and style, this home with stunning ocean views encompasses a colorful harmony of elements. Originally dark, dated, and closed off from its surroundings, the home was completely transformed to maximize living space and to take advantage of its ideal location by creating a strong sense of indoor/outdoor living. The home now has a vastly improved curb appeal and front access, maximizes natural light, makes views central to the home's appeal, and easily accommodates overnight guests when family visits.
