Jacquelyn L. Power, M.Ed., Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Educational Administration

    COOLIDGE, AZ, January 25, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jacquelyn Power, M.Ed., Superintendent and Principal of Blackwater Community School, has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Educational Administration. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Drawing on 31 years of professional experience, Jacquelyn L. Power is recognized for excellence in educational administration. Currently, she serves as the superintendent and principal of Blackwater Community School; she has held these positions for 12 years. Especially proficient in the field of early childhood education, she is tasked with managing school operations and handling the institution of instructional programs and curriculum. Additionally, she writes and manages grants, supervises 55 staff members and oversees the adult education program. Passionate about the importance of continuing education, she served as the Arizona state director of adult education for two years. She also gives local and national presentations regarding literacy. Most recently, of Blackwater Community School was named the National Title I Distinguished School of the Year for 2011 representing Arizona. Ms. Power received the award on January 20, 2012 at the National Title I Conference in Seattle, Washington.

Having accrued a number of career highlights, a few accomplishments stand out as being particularly rewarding for Ms. Power. In 2006, she was presented with the National Fulbright Scholarship and in 2002, was honored with the National Elementary School Principal of the Year Award by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Driven by a strict code of personal and professional ethics, she attributes her success to her dedication and love for children.

Ms. Power holds a master of elementary education from the University of Arizona and a bachelor's degree in anthropology from Arizona State University. She received certification as a superintendent and principal from Arizona State University, and is a member of the Arizona School Administrators Association, the Arizona Association for Lifelong Learning, the American Association of School Administrators and the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
