Enchilada Warehouse welcomes comedian Jade Esteban Estrada, "a one-man act sure to slap the frown off your face" (Tri-City Herald), as the headlining performer in its biweekly show, "A Slice Of Comedy", on Saturday, July 11.
The San Antonio Express-News says that Jade Esteban Estrada "can do just about anything: sing, dance, act and, of course, make you laugh with his wild yet incisive humor." A veteran of stage and screen, Estrada has been featured on Comedy Central and Bravo; as an actor, he has appeared on NBC's Emmy Award-winning series "30 Rock" and "Friday Night Lights"; and his work as a singer has been featured on FX's award-winning series "The Shield".
Dubbed "America's Prince of Pride" by NBC News, Estrada has won numerous awards and accolades for his stage work and activism, including six awards for his one-man series "ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World". In 2008, he hosted the GLAAD Media Awards in Miami, Florida; the ceremony was broadcast nationwide on Bravo.
"I always love coming back to perform in my hometown," says Estrada (who, in addition to "ICONS", has performed his one-man show "Tortilla Heaven" across the country). "There's a very special atmosphere that you find in San Antonio and at places like Enchilada Warehouse - I guess you could say it's a whole different flavor!"
