Jagged Peak announced today it will deploy "Pick-to-Light" technology in its U.S. and Canada fulfillment operations. The first DC has been installed and the remaining DCs will follow by end of Q2.
The new system, which was developed in collaboration with Innovative Picking Technologies, Inc. and Vogler Equipment, will enable the company to increase order fulfillment production for a consumer goods client by 300%. This Pick-to-Light technology provides pick and pack personnel a visual queue of the items that need to be picked and or assembled to complete a customer order. Beyond huge gains in production capacity, the company also reports the system will enhance its quality control processes and further improve order accuracy.
A key component of this operational initiative was the requirement to integrate the Pick-to-Light system to Jagged Peak's
EDGE Commerce and Supply Chain OMS Systems. The integration of these systems connects the customer's order to the production floor insuring orders are processed, fulfilled and shipped in a virtually real-time environment. Currently, Jagged Peak processes and ships all of its client's e-commerce orders the same day in which they are received.
