Prior to forming his law firm, Mr. McConnell worked for various other organizations throughout the Chicago, IL, area, including as partner for Goldstein, Fluxgold & McConnell, attorney for Neal & Leroy, LLC, partner for Freeborn & Peters, partner for Bell, Boyd & Lloyd, and associate-turned-partner for Rooks, Pitts & Poust.

Throughout Mr. McConnell's career as a trial lawyer, he has represented clients in hundreds of cases involving complex construction claims and other international, commercial, financial, and insurance issues. He has handled litigation concerning such familiar construction projects as Chicago's Millennium Park, the John Hancock building, and the Sears Tower. Furthermore, he has served as an attorney and arbitrator in international construction and insurance claims.

After earning a BS in Journalism at Iowa State University and a JD at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, Mr. McConnell was admitted to the Illinois Bar Association, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the Supreme Court of Illinois, and the Supreme Court of the United Sates. Attending law school because he was interested in becoming a trial lawyer, Mr. McConnell's first construction client was the American bridge division of U.S. Steel. Learning more about construction law on this case, he remained passionate and committed to this area of law. Mr. McConnell has since tried many civil jury cases in state and federal courts in Illinois, and has been specially admitted as trial counsel in courts in seven other jurisdictions, as well as in numerous appeals.

A national and international author and lecturer on public, private, and international construction contracting, Mr. McConnell was a former adjunct professor of law at Chicago-Kent College of Law from 1978 to 1984, and authored the book "Comparative Negligence Defense Tactics" in 1985. He also authored many articles in professional journals and served on the editorial board for the Hazardous Waste and Toxic Torts Law and Strategy journal.

A member of the Northern District of the Illinois Trial Bar since its inception in 1982 and member of the Society of Trial Lawyers and the American Arbitration Association, Mr. McConnell is also a longstanding member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association, where he has been involved by serving in a variety of roles.
