An accomplished listee, Mr. Hillier celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Born in Toronto, Canada, Mr. Hillier emigrated to the United States with his parents at the age of four. Later studying at the prestigious Princeton University, where he earned a BA in 1959 and Master of Fine Arts in 1961, he subsequently became a prominent architect recognized nationally and internationally for his work. In 2011, after spending more than 40 years as the founder and owner of Hillier Architecture, he formed Studio Hillier, LLC, an architectural firm that has been based on land-use strategy and execution. The firm, which was formed alongside his wife and business partner Barbara Hillier, concentrates on community need, neighborhood improvement, and opportunities for quality architecture, while also providing reasonable returns to investors. Licensed to practice in 19 states, they serve clients throughout New Jersey, Philadelphia, New York, Connecticut, and Washington, DC.

Mr. Hillier's success in the field began when Hillier Architecture gained recognition as the third largest architectural firm in the United States. Based in Princeton, NJ, they later merged with RMJM of Scotland in 2007, and became the third largest, strictly-architectural firm in the world with 17 offices worldwide. Mr. Hillier became the deputy chairman of RMJM. The Hillier firm received more than 350 state, national, and international design awards, completed projects in Paris, Dubai, Egypt, India, China, the UK, Australia, and all across the United States. Many projects were international schools. Projects also included the GlaxoSmithKline's headquarters in London and the Supreme Court Building restoration in Washington, DC. Notably, in 1998, Hillier Architecture was named One of the Best Managed Firms in the U.S. by the magazine, Architectural Record.

A longtime trustee for the Peddie School in Hightstown, NJ, since 1981, a college preparatory boarding school, Mr. Hillier has also been known for having served on various other boards, dating back to 1983 when he spent five years as a trustee for the McCarter Theater Center in Princeton, NJ. He also served as chairman and on the advisory board of the Albert Dorman Honors College, NJIT, as trustee of the Edison College Foundation, Milton Hershey School, and as chairman and a member of the Board of Directors for the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Years after earning his BA and MFA, Mr. Hillier received an honorary MBA from Bryant University in 1992. Later recognized with an honorary Doctorate of Human Letter by the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in 2017, he has also earned numerous awards throughout his journey, including a 75th Anniversary Legacy Award from the Urban Land Institute for his work in land conservation and affordable housing in 2013, a NJIT President' Medal for Lifetime Achievement in 2009, and a Michael Graves Lifetime Achievement Medal by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in 2007.

An elected fellow of AIA who has lectured for various chapters and has also taught at various schools of architecture in the United States during his career, Mr. Hillier has also served as a core faculty member of Princeton University's School of Architecture since 1993 and has been recognized as the publisher of Princeton Magazine.
