"Continuum" is a term that represents my evolution as an artist along the lengthy timeline of my awareness. As many artists do, I find it difficult to describe my work: it is such an integral part of my life and has always been that words seem to fall short. Each piece I construct marks a progression along the chronology of life: capturing the moment, stopping time, and allowing an integration of that moment as it passes. One piece evolves from the one before it and a smooth continuum is created.
As an abstract expressionist, I work to uncover the atmosphere and energy of each piece. My work is less about what goes on to the canvas and more about what I take away. I build up layers and then peel them back, causing the expanse of each piece to reveal itself through deep linear seams, embedded symbols, objects, figures, and language... resonant touchstones that parallel the overall human experience. Much like an archeological excavation, each discovery marks where I've been and where I'm heading as an individual through the uncharted territory of a self-taught artist.
Each time our eyes open to something new... we are changed, we evolve. If art moves you, you take it with you... it becomes part of your being and it changes you. I am simply making these experiences part of a more significant existence: a conscious choice I have made in being an artist.
