Jamie L. Reason Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Reason with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. A widely respected musician, Mrs. Reason served as the orchestra director of The Brook Hill School since the turn of the century until her retirement in May 2016 prompted by the birth of her first grandchild. Located in Bullard, Texas, The Brook Hill School is a private Christian day and boarding school that aims to provide excellence in college preparatory education, affirm the gifts and challenge the potential of each student, and encourage students to honor God through Christ-like character. During her service at The Brook Hill School, Mrs. Reason has had her orchestra students qualify each year for the Texas Music Educators (TMEA) All-Region Middle School and High School Orchestras, the TMEA Music Scholar Award and Side-by-Side winners with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra. Since joining the Texas Association of Private & Parochial Schools (TAPPS) in 2002, the Brook Hill Varsity Orchestra under Mrs. Reason's leadership consistently has earned State Superior I and Sweepstakes ratings and two TAPPS State Orchestra Championship titles.

Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Reason has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including the 8th edition of Who's Who in American Education, which was published in 2007. In addition, she was selected to receive the Noted Circle Award through the Tyler Youth Orchestra for her contribution and "service to the youth and community of Tyler as musician and instructor." In May 2016, Jamie received a State honor - she was voted the Texas Association of Private & Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 4A Fine Arts Teacher of the Year.

Prior to pursuing a career in music education, Ms. Reason attended Holy Names University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 1976. One year later, she received lifetime credentials in instrumental music through the university. Mrs. Reason went on to serve as a teacher of instrumental music at Barrett Junior High in San Lorenzo, California from 1977 to 1979. She continued her service with the San Lorenzo School District from 1979 to 1981 as Instrumental Music Director at Arroyo High School until she relocated to Texas. From 1981 to 1984, she served as a teacher of instrumental music with St. Mary's School in Longview, Texas and also operated a private violin/piano studio out of her home. In 1988, Mrs. Reason established the Whitehouse Suzuki Strings Studio where she has served as a teacher of violin and viola to this day and last year renamed her studio as The Reason String Studio.

For more than three decades, Mrs. Reason has performed as a violinist with the East Texas Symphony Orchestra. She has also been a violinist with the Fremont Philharmonic and Hayward Symphony Orchestras in California, Longview and Marshall Symphonies in Texas. She is violinist with the Texas Shakespeare Festival, violinist/violist/manager with the Tyler String Quartet, violinist at Bethel Bible Church, and freelances throughout the Tyler/East Texas area. Mrs. Reason continues to serve as a clinician and adjudicator for the orchestras, music festivals, camps and contests. She maintains affiliation with a wide range of industry-related organizations, including the Texas Music Educators Association.
