CONCORD, MA, July 10, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jan Soltis Tuttle White has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Recognized for five decades of invaluable contributions to her field, Ms. White parlays her knowledge into her position as medical system manager for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where she has been since 1990. Prior to obtaining her first professional role, she earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Bates College. Upon graduating, she started as a member of the corporate staff at IBM Corp, and subsequently took on a role as systems engineer for the company. She began in the systems engineer role the same year she earned an MBA in marketing and operations research from Columbia University, where she had the honor of delivering a 50th anniversary speech. She stated, "As a computer scientist, I have seen my horizon of a more peaceful world evolve. I pushed to do the impossible/implausible at IBM and Digital, Harvard and MIT and most of the world's institutions, large and small, NASA to nano, genome to geriatric...Could any less be expected of a Sputnik-era scientist who just happened to be a girl?" She also notes that, "the idea of 'retirement' has never really seemed wise policy or philosophy to me," so throughout her career, she has worked in a plethora of different positions that have set examples for others in the field. After leaving IBM, she worked for MIT as an assistant to the director of information processing services and as a program manager, and for Digital Equipment Corp. in a variety of managerial and marketing roles.

In order to keep abreast of the many changes in the field of computer science and information technology, Ms. White affiliates herself with the American Association of Artificial Intelligence, the Institute for Management Sciences, and the Operations Research Society of America. Throughout her notable career, she has contributed her knowledge into such creative works as the Disney Channel documentary film, "Silver Men." She has also contributed to books like "An Olde Concord Christmas," "Boston Symphony Orchestra Cookbook," and "In Commemoration of the Technicolor Centennial 1915-2015." As a testament to her success, she has been recognized many times for her work by Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in Finance and Business, as well as through the 10th Anniversary Certificate of Appreciation from the VAX Systems Special Interest Group's U.S. Chapter of Digital Equipment Corp.

During her spare time, Ms. White prides herself on giving back to the community and helping others reach their highest potential. Over the years, she has served with such organizations as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Women's Educational and Industrial Union, the Garden Club of Concord, the Hannah Duston Garrison House Association, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, as well as many others. She hopes to leave the world, "a better one for having been here."
