/24-7PressRelease/ - SHERMAN OAKS, CA, August 28, 2007 - Janet Goliger will be signing her unique child safety book, "I Need to be SAFE: I'm Worth It! - How to Protect Your Child from Danger", (ISBN 978-0-9768273-2-0), Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 3 P.M. in Simi Valley, CA at Borders Book Store 2910 Tapo Canyon Rd., Simi Valley, CA 93063, phone: 805-526-2800. She will also offer a brief demonstration of a few techniques from her book.

"I Need to be SAFE: I'm Worth It!" shows parents how to work with their child using a proactive approach to child safety. This unique book shows children how to be more aware of their surroundings, identify strangers, what to do when approached by a stranger, safety levels, and safety tips. Also included are 32 step-by-step physical self-defense techniques, with captions and close-ups, that are simple yet effective enough for any child to learn and escape the clutches of an abductor. "The reality is that children are small, weaker than their attackers, and they are vulnerable", says Janet Goliger, " however, they are not defenseless if we arm them with the appropriate tools. They need to know to never enter that car, never grab that hand, and how to get away before they are grabbed. The key to their survival is the ability to recognize danger before something happens, and the ability to flee if attacked by surprise. Children must fight back. This book gives them that chance."

The book also explains how essential it is for children to repetitively practice both verbal and physical self-defense techniques on a regular basis at home, with their parent's supervision, so it becomes second nature to them, to react quickly and with confidence. "Various dangerous situations are given throughout the book explaining just how easy it is for a stranger to approach and grab a child. The book shows kids and their parents how to practice the specific safety and survival skills needed for each situation described, in addition to the physical self-defense techniques offered", says Goliger.

Janet Goliger is an experienced physical education teacher and author of "I Need to be SAFE: I'm Worth It! - How to Protect Your Child from Danger." She is a 2nd degree black belt in Okinawan Shido-kan Karate. Ms. Goliger created the original C.L.A.S.S. Self-Defense Program, used in local schools to teach proactive child safety within physical education curriculums. The program has been credited with saving several children's lives. "Both the school curriculum and my book have received enthusiastic praise from parents and teachers", says Goliger. "The students have fun during their class while actually learning how to avoid danger and escape if attacked by surprise. My book is based on the C.L.A.S.S. Self-Defense program but it is written for children to read and understand, and for parents to work with their children. It also offers more physical self-defense techniques than the original program. The book explains various situations and shows kids and their parents how to practice these techniques at home."
