Ms. Kibassa has nine years experience in the field of recreation, moving through the ranks as recreation assistant, recreation therapist, and assistant director. She has spent the last five years as the Director of Recreation Therapy at St. Patrick's Home, a facility that provides healthcare, recreation, physical, occupational, and speech therapy to its geriatric population. Ms. Kibassa is revered by her superiors and peers as an expert in planning and organizing therapeutic recreation services, managing business operations, and at times conducting in-house and community programs. She attributes her success to a great love for her profession and her desire to work with elderly. Ms. Kibassa considers her greatest professional achievements to be empowering her staff and intern students to succeed, and the residents to whom she provides services, maintain their independence.
A graduate of Mercy College, Ms. Kibassa earned her Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation. She is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and a member of the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, the American Therapeutic Recreation Association and the New York State Therapeutic Recreation Association. In the future, Ms. Kibassa has her sights on working in the adult day care setting.
