Janet Monks Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Mental Health Services

Ms. Monks is a leader in providing therapy to individuals and couples

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA, March 21, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janet Monks, a self-employed psychotherapist, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in mental health services.

Ms. Monks has 11 years of experience in her role as a self-employed psychotherapist in private practice. On a day-to-day basis, she works with both individuals and couples hoping to overcome depression, relationship issues, life transitions, infertility, parenting difficulties, grief and loss. She also is experienced in providing Christian counseling.

A highly experienced therapist, Ms. Monks grounds her practice in attachment theory, notably the belief that people's deepest needs are for acceptance and emotional safety within loving relationships. A background in psychodynamic theory informs her belief that people are profoundly affected by their experiences and relationships with caregivers early in life. In addition to her therapy work, Ms. Monks lectures to groups on such varied topics as relationship dynamics, depression, assertiveness and boundaries, creating safer and more loving couple and family bonds.

Ms. Monks attributes her professional success to her ability to help clients understand and attend to their unconscious needs and conflicts. She traces her involvement in her profession to her prior work as a Ph.D. student in French literature. After studying the psychoanalysis of women in literature, Ms. Monks realized that she wanted to pursue a career as a psychotherapist.

Fluent in French and English, Ms. Monks holds a master's degree in counseling psychology from the providence Theological Seminary and a master's degree in French literature from Faculte des Lettres in Perpignan, France. She received her bachelor's degree in French literature from the University of Winnipeg.

Ms. Monks is a certified member of the Professional Association of Christian Counselors and is a member of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. In the years to come, she hopes to continue to expand her use of Emotionally Focused Therapy and conduct additional speaking engagements.
