Janet Orth Richards Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in High School Chemistry Instruction

Retired Scientific Educator for Minisink Valley High School, New York



    SLATE HILL, NY, December 23, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janet Orth Richards, Retired Chemistry Teacher for Minisink Valley High School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of high school chemistry instruction.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Richards gained an impressive background in education. In her position as a chemistry teacher, she was responsible for preparing question papers for the New York State Regents Exams, overseeing the science department, assisting with science curriculum development for kindergarten through 12th-grade students, and teaching chemistry. Sponsor of the Lawrence and Janet Richards scholarship at Minisink Valley High School, Mrs. Richards proudly helped edit the 50-year celebration book chronicling the history of Minisink Valley Central School.

Mrs. Richards received her Master of Science in Mathematics from SUNY New Paltz in 1965, her Master of Education in Science, with a concentration in chemistry from East Stroudsburg University in 1969 and her Bachelor of Science in Physical Science, with a minor in mathematics, in 1958 from East Stroudsburg University. A certified principal, she is the women's group treasurer and outreach chairwoman for Drew United Methodist Church. She is on the board of directors of Evangeline Emmanuel Ministries International and is the district treasurer of the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church Women.
