SAINT AUGUSTINE, FL, November 23, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janet Waris-Havey, Resource Nurse, Critical Care Nurse, Nursing Informatics Professional for Flagler Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.

With 30 years of professional experience, Ms. Waris-Havey specializes in critical care. She is responsible for conducting classes on nursing informatics including resources, devices and methods required to optimize the acquisition, storage, retrieval and use of information in health and biomedicine within the technology department in the hospital, and ensuring correct usage of systems by nurses and individuals. The American Nurses Credentialing Center recognized Flagler Hospital as Northeast Florida's first Magnet designated facility. Ms. Waris-Havey has been involved in nursing informatics for five years and has worked as a critical care nurse for 25 years. After working as a secondary teacher, she felt that combining her skills in education and nursing would allow her to make a strong difference in others. She attributes her success to her perseverance.

Ms. Waris-Havey received her Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2009, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Lewis University in 1979 and Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education from Illinois College in Jacksonville in 1972. She is a registered nurse and attained a certification in Elementary Education from Illinois College in 1975. She is a member of numerous organizations, including the Florida Nurse Association, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau, The American Nurses Association and the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives. In the future, she intends to enroll in the doctor of nursing practice program.
