LAKE MARY, FL, October 13, 2008
/24-7PressRelease/ -- Public speaker, author and sober alcoholic Jay Kolo is pleased to announce a series of speaking events aimed at helping the alcoholic overcome the misery and shame that flow from the bottle. These events held at the Lake Mary Public Library Community Room, 580 Greenway Boulevard, Lake Mary, Florida will begin December 2, 2008 and continue on through May 2009. They are free of charge and everyone is welcome. Complimentary coffee and bottled water will be provided. Mr. Kolo will also give away an autographed book to the first three attendees.
Jay Kolo is a forty-seven year old husband, father and sober alcoholic with over thirteen years abstinence from the bottle. During his thirteen years of sobriety he has written six books of fiction, poetry and inspirational wisdom. He has spoken to thousands who seek to out run the devastating grip of the bottle. Whether it be through television, radio or the lecture circuit Jay's words are designed to help the alcoholic see themselves as others have seen them for years.
All of this from a man, who dropped out of high school, was kicked out of the military and spent far too much time in mental institutions and treatment centers hiding from his problems and society. His two decades of drunkenness rendered him an emotional cripple as he struggled to understand his self- destructive behaviors. Joblessness along with periods of homelessness was the least of his worries as he was tormented each and everyday by an overwhelming desire to drink. It was this desire that nearly killed him in the early morning hours of August 10th, 1995. This was the day that alcohol's soothing effects abandoned Jay and left him grappling with what and whom he had become. Suicide seemed the only way to end his misery and alcoholism. Luckily what appeared to be the final moments of Jay's life turned out to be the final moments of his drinking.
Learn what it was that saved Jay from his insanity and uncontrollable desire to get drunk. Learn how he went from homeless and helpless to someone who now brims with hope and desires to share this hope with all who will listen.
"We need to realize that we can find help for whatever it is that is troubling us. And help does not come from the soothing effects that alcohol tempts us with, states Kolo. "In fact, alcohol offers no solutions to the problems it creates"
