NEW YORK, NY, November 15, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The French Consul General in Shanghai, Emmanuel Lenain, will preside during a Nov. 25, 2013, ceremony at his Shanghai residence to celebrate a France-China academic exchange program, supported by the New York City-based Jerôme Lohez 9/11 Scholarship Foundation.
As an expression of its expanded global vision for the future, the Lohez Foundation has initiated another partnership with a dual-degree graduate program, this one on Europe and Asia in Global Affairs, between the School of International and Public Affairs (SIRPA) at the Fudan University in Shanghai and Sciences Po in Paris. The Lohez Foundation established its first France-China partnership with the dual-degree graduate program on International Communications and Media between the Fudan University Journalism School and Sciences Po Journalism School.
During the Nov. 25 ceremony, two scholarships from the Lohez Foundation will be conferred upon students studying in the Fudan University-SciencesPo Dual-Degree Program on Europe and Asia in Global Affairs: Ms. Keli Wang of China and Mr. Jean-Sebastien Marre of France.
Ms. Dening Wu Lohez, the Foundation's founder and president, will be in attendance Nov. 25. Deans and Professors from Fudan University, the Sciences Po Alumni Association, Sciences Po Chinese Representatives, and members of the China-France Club will also attend the event.
Ms. Lohez is a dual American-French citizen of Chinese heritage. Her late husband Jerôme was one of five French victims who perished in the World Trade Center terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001. Ms. Lohez was appointed May 1, 2013, to the rank of Knight in the French National Order of Merit by the Government of France. The appointment, which is France's highest civilian honor, was by the order of French President François Hollande, based on the recommendation of Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius. The appointment was affirmed in a ceremony at the French Consulate in New York City.
In written remarks, Minister Fabius addressed Ms. Lohez: "This prestigious distinction rewards the permanence and the quality of services you have given to our country, and the dedication that you have demonstrated in this way. I am pleased to extend you my warmest congratulations on the well-deserved honor that France gives you on this occasion."
Embracing the realities of the reshaping Global Community, the Jerôme Lohez 9/11 Scholarship Foundation in 2012 expanded its mission statement to include its new alliances with French-Chinese university exchange programs.
