CASSELBERRY, FL, October 20, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Southern rock royalty Jimmie Van Zant is scheduled to take the stage on Saturday October 20th, 2012 headlining the Fire on the Water Arts and Music Festival in Monticello, Mississippi.
The inaugural event lasts all day, from 8am-8pm, and is hosted by the Lawrence County Fire and EMS Association. It features an antique car show, the Mississippi Firefighter's Extravaganza, a Redneck Ride Showcase, art vendors, food, and games for the kids. Tickets for the Jimmie Van Zant concert is $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. Children ages 12 and under are free with a paying adult. Concert gates open at 4pm and the music line-up starts at 5pm.
The festival falls on the 35th anniversary of the tragic plane crash that injured and killed members of Lynyrd Skynyrd including Jimmie's cousin, frontman Ronnie Van Zant. The crash occurred in a forest near McComb, which is about 60 miles from Monticello. Prior to the show, Jimmie intends to privately visit the site to lay down a wreath in memoriam. Out of respect for his family, friends, and their legacy, Jimmie will perform several of Lynyrd Skynyrd's greatest hits as well as partake in a moment of silence in remembrance of the crash and those who lost their lives.
