/24-7PressRelease/ - NORTH CHARLESTON, SC, September 12, 2008 - Peter Hukki, an Enrolled Agent for JK Harris and Company, LLC, attended the 10th annual conference on Advanced Taxpayer Representation and IRS Procedure conducted by the American Academy of Tax Practice. The three-day event was held Sept. 3-5 in Las Vegas, NV
The forum is an advanced program that covered topics in E-Filing, Preparer Penalties, Collections, Appeals, Identity Theft and Criminal Investigations. Also covered were topics related to Tax Practice, the IRS, and Filing and Reporting requirements. Hukki joined other Enrolled Agents who are federally authorized tax practitioners from around the country for a comprehensive conference on the advanced aspects of representing clients before the IRS.
"The foundation of the forum is Examination, Collection and Appeals, which are important topics to the tax practitioner," said Hukki, who has been a Licensed Taxpayer Representative at JK Harris since 2004. "Attending the forum helps me to stay up to date and understand the IRS' changes in these activities from year to year which allows me to better serve our clients."
Hukki has been an Enrolled Agent since 1974. He is currently a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents and has served as a Director and the Treasurer on the National Board. He is a member of the South Carolina Society of Enrolled Agents and is a member of the National Association of Tax Practitioners. Hukki's role with JK Harris, the nation's largest tax resolution firm, is in audit representation and the preparation of complex tax returns.
"This year, the forum focused on a lot of the issues I see with our clients who are going through an audit," said Hukki. "As a practitioner, it is imperative I know the techniques the IRS uses in an examination and I remain diligent to all of the appeals rights of our clients."
The American Academy of Tax Practice is a professional institute devoted to tax practice education and the training, developing and sharpening of skills depended upon by federally authorized tax practitioners who practice before the IRS.
