Joanie M. Shoofey Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry

    HENDERSON, NV, January, 7, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joanie M. Shoofey, Owner of Ask Joanie, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of women in business. Ms. Shoofey has enjoyed a colorful 52 year career covering a variety of fields. She has won over 50 beauty contests including Miss Nevada, was second runner up for Miss USA in the Miss Universe contest, was named Miss Sahara for eight years in public relations; was Miss Washington Redskins, Miss California Press Photographer, Miss KTTV in California for six years and Miss Jr. Chamber of Commerce. She holds eight world hunting records in Africa, Alaska and the U.S.A. and fed starving children in seventeen African villages with the meat. She was a champion water skier for seven years, and an overall sportswoman.

Ms. Shoofey was instrumental in bringing the first National Convention to Nevada by traveling with Governor Russell to Mexico, Lieutenant Governor Rex Bell to Canada and Governor Sawyer to the Southern states. Governor Richard Bryant was helped by Ms. Shoofey when running for governor and state senator. She helped provide the star of the show for the National Governor's Conference at Lake Tahoe for Governor O'Callahan. She put on the kick-off show that won Oran Grayson the mayor's race. As Joan Shoofey Brasher she twice won the Nevada Woman of Achievement Award.

As a passionate servant of her community, Ms. Shoofey chaired the largest charity events in Las Vegas needing the Convention Center for the Mother and Daughter Show. She also participated in many events for St. Judes Ranch for Children, the Junior League, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, March of Dimes and the Parent Teachers Club.

Ms. Shoofey owned and ran eight successful businesses including Silly Shirts at MGM Grand, Sahara Hotel & Casino and Circus¬Circus and Triple Crown at The Jockey Club. She was also Coordinator of Entertainment at The Flamingo, President of War Games, and President of Kitchen Design Center. She is currently writing her autobiography entitled "Ask Joanie."
