Job Seekers Advised to Improve Job Search Skills as Jobless Rate Hits New High
Another 80,000 payroll jobs cut in March 2008 and a new 2-year high, 5.1% jobless rate requires job candidates to re-examine their job search approach and strengthen their skills if they want to compete in a flooded job market.

/24-7PressRelease/ - ELYRIA, OH, April 10, 2008 - The jobless rate soared to a two-year high of 5.1% after 80,000 additional payroll jobs were cut in March 2008. That is the sharpest drop in five years, according to data recently released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor. The escalating job shortage and increased competition requires that job candidates re-examine their job search approach. Urban Career Coach (www.UrbanCareerCoach.com) is teaching job seekers to strengthen their resume and interview skills and implement aggressive job search strategies via teleclasses that they can attend from home.

"The job pond is shrinking and many candidates find themselves knee-deep in industries that are no longer viable," says Roxanne Ravenel, Career Coach & Job Search Strategist of Urban Career Coach. "More importantly, many job candidates lack the job search skills to compete in a tough job market."

After reviewing thousands of resumes and screening, interviewing, and hiring hundreds of applicants on behalf of a global outsourcing firm, Ravenel realized the critical need for job search strategy training. "I learned that most job seekers had no idea what they were doing wrong or that even small missteps would land them in the reject pile. I saw candidates with more than adequate knowledge and experience who were unable to communicate that to me. I wanted to do something about it."

Ravenel founded Urban Career Coach and created job search strategy curriculum that could be easily delivered to job seekers via teleclass, Webinar, or onsite workshop. Each session is designed to help participants begin implementing the information covered immediately.

Enrollment is now open for the "Create Your Five-Step Top Job Candidate Action Plan" teleseminars (http://urbancareercoach.com/ucc-programs/teleseminars/) scheduled for Wednesday, April 30th at 8PM Eastern and Thursday, May 1st at 2PM Eastern. During the telephone-based event participants will go through a five-step process for creating a clear career action plan and improving their job search skills. The session costs $39 (US Funds).
