John Arthur McClung, MD, Honored for Excellence in Cardiology

Dr. McClung serves as Professor of Clinical Medicine at New York Medical College and is the Director of the Noninvasive Cardiology Laboratory at the Westchester Medical Center



Dr. McClung is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and the American Society of Echocardiography.

    HAWTHORNE, NY, January 09, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John Arthur McClung, MD with Westchester Medical Center has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in cardiology.

Board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and echocardiography, Dr. McClung serves as Professor of Clinical Medicine at New York Medical College and Director of the Noninvasive Cardiology Laboratory at the Westchester Medical Center. He is Director Emeritus of the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program at New York Medical College. He has also published articles on ethical issues in the areas of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, bioethics consultation and end of life care. Additionally, Dr. McClung is a frequent contributor to publications in the field of cardiovascular disease.

Initially inspired to enter medicine because of his interest in cardiovascular physiology and the humanities, Dr. McClung received an AB from the Johns Hopkins University in 1971, an MD from New York Medical College in 1975, completed a residency and chief residency in internal medicine at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center and Lincoln Medical Center in 1979, and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at New York Medical College in 1982. He has maintained his position on the faculty of New York Medical College since 1979 and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

With more than 39 years of experience, Dr. McClung attributes his success to hard work, as well as those he has worked with throughout his career; both his clinical colleagues and basic research colleagues have made a big difference in his life. Recently inducted into Worldwide Registry, Dr. McClung is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, and the American Society of Echocardiography. Additionally, he is a board member of Physicians' Home, a charitable organization that assists New York State physicians who are in need of financial help. In the coming years, Dr. McClung plans for his laboratory to become a core research laboratory in echocardiography.
