John R. Gilder Recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Communications Systems

    SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, May 18, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John R. Gilder, Manager for Strategic Vision and Marketing Communications for L-3 Communications, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in communication systems.

Mr. Gilder has over four decades of experience in engineering, technical management, new business development, program business management with five years of experience as manager within Strategic Initiatives for Strategic Vision and Marketing Communications for the Communication Systems - West Division of L-3 Communications. His areas of expertise include communication systems engineering, program management, new business development, and organizing, managing and coordinating trade show events for his division. In this position, he coordinates with senior management, new business development and program directors, manages the division tradeshow budget, plans division participation in tradeshow events, travels to trade show venues, sets up and tears down exhibits, ships items, plans for future shows, receives and creates invoices, ensures that events are properly staffed, and connects potential clients met at tradeshows to the right person in the company. He works with peers in other L-3 divisions at multi-division tradeshow events, and comes in contact with some of the top L-3 Corporate leaders through these activities. He also collects and assesses situational awareness of the marketplace across many different tradeshow market niches. As manager within strategic initiatives, he reports to the vice president of strategic initiatives through the director of capture excellence.

Mr. Gilder grew up in Los Angeles. His Masters thesis on laser communications through dense clouds was published in the Proceedings of the IEEE. During that time, he worked at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, from 1968 until 1973.

He attributes his success to focusing on internal or external customer needs and creating solutions. He became involved in his current profession while working in new business development and an opportunity became available for trade shows. It was a perfect fit because it was an area that he was both interested in as well as provided growth opportunities from broader exposure to the marketplace.

Mr. Gilder received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1967, and Master of Science in Engineering three years later from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a member of the National Defense Industrial Association, other aerospace trade associations and Zeta Psi Fraternity, Inc. In five years, Mr. Gilder hopes to continue to stay involved in the technical end of business, or a position related to high-tech marketing, and to add value by communicating and sharing his accumulated experience and expertise in his fields.
