Dr. Raymer has retired from serving as a language and literature professor at Holy Cross College but volunteers as a composition tutor at Ivy Tech Community College, South Bend, IN.
Dr. Raymer has had an instrumental role in the promotion of education, leading programs that provide academic opportunities where there is a need. Dr. Raymer was a founding member of the University of Notre Dame-Holy Cross College Westville Education Initiative. This was an academic collaboration between Holy Cross College and the University of Notre Dame that allowed students at the Westville Correctional Facility to earn an Associate of Arts degree and even transfer into a Bachelor of Arts degree program upon release. In honor of Dr. Raymer's contributions, he was named Outstanding Mentor of University of Notre Dame bound students and Outstanding Board Member of the Dismas House. Additionally he has been honored with a Certificate of Appreciation Award, the Outstanding Young Men of America Award, the George Hixson Award by Kiwanis International, the Outstanding Community College Collaboration Award, and a nomination for the Michiana 55 Plus Vol. Award.
