/24-7PressRelease/ -- The ASCAP Foundation honored singer/songwriter/recording artist Johnny Rodgers with the Jamie deRoy & friends award for outstanding work, dedication and craftsmanship as a songwriter. The accolade was presented during the Foundation's 13th Annual Awards Ceremony tonight at the Allen Room, Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, in New York City. The invitation-only event, hosted by ASCAP Foundation President Marilyn Bergman, also honored vocalist/recording star/songwriter Judy Collins with The ASCAP Foundation Champion Award for music in the service of vital causes dedicated to a better world. The foundation also recognized a wide variety of Scholarship and Award recipients, all of whom benefit from programs of The ASCAP Foundation.
Johnny Rodgers also provided a sensational performance of his new single - The Best of You In Me for the music industry leaders that attended the Awards event. Jamie deRoy bubbled about Johnny after the show "JOHNNY WAS FABULOUS. FABULOUS!!!! Everyone thinks he will be a STAR!!! A BIG STAR!!!!"
Johnny's debut CD Box of Photographs earned him instant acclaim from critics and radio stations across the country. Liza Minnelli discovered Johnny several years ago, bringing him on as a pianist and guest performer on her world tours and current Broadway run. Rodgers released 2 more EPs this month.
