Listed among America's Top 100 Lawyers, Mr. Briskin has 40 years of experience in the legal profession. He practices in criminal law in both state and federal court, and is recognized as an expert in criminal defense and white-collar criminal trials. In the course of his distinguished career, Mr. Briskin tried over 30 first-degree murder trials, many involving the death penalty, and hundreds of cases related to drug trafficking, burglary, insurance fraud, perjury, mail fraud, and money laundering. Additionally, he has handled appeals to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, and the Third Circuit of the Court of Appeals. Proud to be serving and practicing in his own hometown, Mr. Briskin attributes his longevity to his hard work and industry knowledge and to the support he receives from his wife.
Not one to shy away from controversial cases, Mr. Briskin first came to public attention in 1980 for successfully representing Wendell Long, dubbed in the press as "the Suburban Station Rapist." Other high-profile clients and cases include George Botsarius, known by the monicker "George the Greek" as the alleged leader of Philadelphia's "Greek Mob"; John Berkery, alleged head of the infamous K&A Gang; Philadelphia City Counselor Leland Beloff for his alleged participation in the Willard Rouse extortion plot; the Zulu Nation gang trial; Lenny Shub, founder and international president of Warlocks Motorcycle Club International; Michael Cifelli, also known as "Mickey Coco," involved with the Angelo Bruno crime family; Sidney Brooks, a well-known Philadelphia arsonist; Frank Sheeran, a teamster leader and associate of the Russel Buffalino crime family; Danny Hernandez of the Hernandez cocaine ring; Tony Zolun, who committed the largest private jewelry theft in U.S. history; Rev. Park, the "Robin Hood" of the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station cocaine ring; Harry J. Katz, dubbed "Philadelphia's Playboy without a Portfolio"; and singer Patti LaBelle. Mr. Briskin was featured in countless newspaper articles and has been profiled on the "Maury" show.
Mr. Briskin received his JD in 1970 from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1967 from Temple University. He is a member of the Bucks County Bar Association, the Philadelphia Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1959 to 1963.
