Ms. Bracken brings 30 years of professional experience in emergency nursing to Oak Forest Hospital of Cook County. As clinical nurse specialist, she is responsible for handling clinical issues in the emergency department, educating nurses, and initiating practice changes. In addition to her work for the hospital, she teaches at the University of Illinois as an adjunct clinical professor and sets healthcare policies for heart attacks as part of the heart attack alert program of the National Institute of Health. Prior to beginning her career in healthcare, Ms. Bracken was an elementary school teacher. She became involved in her profession because she wanted to make a difference in the lives of others, and attributes her success to her desire to excel.

A product of Rush University, Ms. Bracken earned her Master of Science in Nursing in 1987. She is affiliated with the Emergency Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau, and volunteers regularly with the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. She aspires to venture into consulting.
