STAMFORD, CT, October 25, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Julie Jason of Greenwich, Conn. with offices in Stamford, Conn. has been recognized by Marquis Who's Who with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

In addition to Who's Who in the World, a select list of 1 percent of Who's Who biographees worldwide, Ms. Jason is referenced in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.

As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Jason is a personal portfolio manager, lawyer, author, and syndicated columnist who has established herself among the top investment counsel in the Stamford, Conn., region. She founded Jackson, Grant Investment Advisers, Inc. in 1992 as a fiduciary wealth management boutique (registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission). Previously, she demonstrated her expertise and prominence in investment management roles, including as president of PaineWebber Futures Management and president of PW Trust during the trust company's start-up. Earlier, as assistant general counsel of PaineWebber, Inc. (now UBS), she was part of the task force that spearheaded PaineWebber's entry into sponsorship of its own mutual funds. At the time, she participated in the Securities Regulation and Operations committees of the Investment Company Institute and presented at national securities industry conferences on such topics as portfolio valuation of securities, the securities registration process, commodity pools, global custody, investment monitoring procedures, reasoned investment policy, and the "Value Method" of 401(k) education. Ms. Jason got her start on Wall Street as a corporate lawyer with investment company responsibility after earning an advanced law degree (LL.M.) from Columbia University. She earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Cleveland State University and is licensed to practice law in New York and Connecticut (corporate), as well as certain federal courts.

Career-related projects in which Ms. Jason has participated have contributed to her overall impact on her professional community. For three years, she served as the state of Connecticut's representative before the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel, a Federal Advisory Committee to the IRS; she received President Obama's Call to Service Award for her service. For more than 20 years, she served as an arbitrator (chairperson's roster) for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the largest independent regulator for all securities firms doing business in the US. She is also a trained FINRA mediator.

Ms. Jason has distinguished herself as a proponent of financial literacy through her writing and speaking, which she designed to reach a wide audience.

Three of her books address retirement investing: "The AARP Retirement Survival Guide: How to Make Smart Decisions in Good Markets and Bad" (2009) and "Managing Retirement Wealth: An Expert Guide to Personal Portfolio Management in Good Times and Bad" (2011). Both were recognized with the prestigious EIFLE (Excellence in Financial Literacy Education) award, among others. Her AARP book was also recognized as a Top 10 Business Book by the American Library Association (Booklist). In 2011, she authored "J.K. Lasser's Strategic Investing After 50: Your Blueprint for Financial Success" a guide for investors approaching retirement.

Earlier, Ms. Jason's interest in financial education led her to write two books on 401(k) plans, one for participants ("You and Your 401(k): How to Manage Your 401(k) for Maximum Returns" 1996), and one for sponsors of 401(k) plans ("The 401(k) Plan Handbook" 1997).

Her sixth book speaks to the need for families to avoid surprises when dealing with estate planning and probate ("Julie Jason's Guide to Connecticut Probate: What Every Connecticut Family Needs to Know about Probate" 2008), published by the Connecticut Bar Association.

Ms. Jason contributed pro-bono chapters to two books to benefit cancer research and prevention: Chapter 1: "Achieving Financial Independence: How women can create retirement wealth" which she contributed to "Not Your Mother's Retirement: Secrets for today's women to live fully during the best years of life" (2014), and Chapter 24: "Managing Retirement Wealth without a Crystal Ball" for "65 Things To Do When You Retire" (2012).

Ms. Jason has written peer-reviewed publications for lawyers and accountants, for example, "Raising the Bar" (Trusts & Estates Magazine 2011) explaining new SEC conflicts-of-interest disclosure requirements for fiduciary advisers, as well as "Choose Wisely: New brochures can help CPAs vet investment advisers" (Journal of Accountancy, 2012). Ms. Jason has commented on SEC rule proposals, some of which have been referenced in SEC adopting releases, for example, Form ADV amendments (2010 Release IA-3060). She has also written articles for law journals on churning and the uses and abuses of mutual fund share classes.

Ms. Jason's work has been recognized for clarity and accuracy in reporting, with awards from the New York State Society of CPA's Excellence in Financial Journalism Award, the Connecticut Press Club Award, the Clarion Award, among others.

Ms. Jason's financial education column, in weekly publication since 1998, was recognized by the IRS's Director of the Office of Communications as "providing accurate, timely, informative and helpful tax information to assist taxpayers in understanding their rights and responsibilities under the law." The column, which is celebrating its 18th year in weekly publication, was launched in Connecticut by the Stamford Advocate and the Greenwich Time. The column has been syndicated nationally by King Features Syndicate since 2013.

Ms. Jason is engaged in industry organizations such as the National Association of Corporate Directors as a Governance Fellow, as well as the Investment Advisers Association, the American Bar Association, the Author's Guild, and the American Society of Journalists and Authors, among others.

Looking ahead, Ms. Jason intends to continue to champion the interests of a diverse investor audience: her fiduciary investment counsel practice serving wealthy families who have more complex financial needs than the everyday investor and her broader focus on financial literacy education for the general public providing insight on how to navigate a complex financial landscape.
