HOT SPRINGS, SD, March 16, 2010 /Cambridge Who's Who/ --June E. Palmer, Owner of J. Palmer Studio, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in fine arts.

Before deciding to pursue art, June E. Palmer dedicated over 31 years to the field of education. Earning a bachelor of science from SUNY Cortland, she went on to work as a high school physical education and ESL teacher. She also coached women's athletics, track and field, and gymnastics. With the exception of school holidays, Ms. Palmer neglected her passion for art throughout her fruitful career. By 1987, however, she knew it was time to focus on pursuing her dreams of becoming a painter.

Inspired by a Winslow Homer original displayed in the L.A. County Museum, she retired from teaching and enrolled in introductory painting classes at her local junior college. She studied for three years, traveling in her RV to attend workshops nationwide. After mastering watercolor techniques, she started selling her paintings at street fairs and studios. Four years ago, she finally opened her own studio, where she now practices her art and gives lessons on landscapes and pet portraiture.

Ms. Palmer has painted throughout most of the Western United States, as well as in Italy and Mexico. Recognized for her work, which is described as vibrant watercolors filled with light and color, she has been featured throughout South Dakota and California. A member of the Artists of the Black Hills organization and the Northern Plains Watercolor Society and a former member of Women Artists of the West, she taught lessons for Rapid City Community Education.
