RIVERSIDE, CA, October 04, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Billed as the coolest Project Playhouse entry ever, the 'Rock the House' ultimate video game playroom built by K. Hovnanian Homes helped raise funds for homeless families through HomeAid Orange County's Annual Project Playhouse fundraiser. The six-week long event held at Irvine Spectrum Center in September raised more than $250,000 to help HomeAid fulfill its mission to build and maintain dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives. Funds raised from the sale of 'Rock the House' go directly to help support HomeAid Inland Empire in its efforts to build housing in their community for homeless men, women and children.

"It was so rewarding to offer our services, along with the help of many of our dedicated contractors and trade partners, to once again support the Project Playhouse fundraiser," said Jim Perry, Division President for K. Hovnanian Homes. "We are thankful to be able to support two HomeAid chapters in their on-going dedication to providing transitional housing in Southern California, especially in this tough economy."

K. Hovnanian's 'Rock the House' was designed to be the ultimate game room, dedicated to the video game craze. This high-tech playhouse was enhanced by Plexiglas-lit panels on the exterior with comfortable chairs and carpeting inside. The playhouse was sold complete with a Wii gaming console, the latest games, accessories and extra components for competitive play. Additional features included a 42" flat screen wall mounted television, surround sound, recessed can lighting, built in cabinetry, and an under-counter refrigerator.

"K. Hovnanian's playhouse was one of the most exciting, fun-filled Project Playhouse entries ever," said John Adams, president of HomeAid Inland Empire Board of Directors. "We are thrilled with the response to this creative playhouse and truly appreciative of the hard work and support of K. Hovnanian, and all of their partners, for their continued support of Home Aid Inland Empire."

Project Playhouse debuted in 1992 and has become HomeAid Orange County's signature fundraiser. Over the years, dedicated builders, trades, architects and designers have donated their talents and resources to create these whimsical playhouses. The unique event has raised more than $5 million to help the 20 year-old non-profit organization build or renovate 44 housing developments for homeless men, women and children.

HomeAid Inland Empire is one of 22 chapters throughout the nation. The organization partners with non-profit shelters by helping them meet their expansion needs in a cost-effective manner. Donations to HomeAid provide a way for individuals to help those in need achieve and maintain a dignified way of life now, and into the future.
