Kalfus & Nachman Offers Safe Ride Home Program for Hampton Roads on the Sunday of "The Big Game 51"

Norfolk law firm will reimburse taxi, rideshare fares up to $30 within Virginia's 757 area code to prevent drunk driving accidents

Our firm knows the cost of drunk driving all too well, which is why we want to provide an incentive to sports fans in Hampton Roads to call on someone for help.

NORFOLK, VA, January 25, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In less than two weeks, the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots will face off on the biggest night of the year for football. Fans across the nation throw parties to watch "The Big Game," but a night of celebration can quickly become dangerous when someone drinks too much and gets behind the wheel.

In an effort to reduce the number of drunk driving accidents in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, the law firm of Kalfus & Nachman announced on Monday that it has again partnered with Norfolk Black & White Cab Company and will, beginning this year, also reimburse rideshare passengers up to $30 in cab, Lyft or Uber fare when they decide to catch a ride home rather than drive drunk after the 51st "Big Game" on Sunday, Feb. 5.

The Kalfus & Nachman #HurtlineSafeRide program is available within the 757 area code (excluding pickup in Portsmouth). Participants must be at least 21 years old and travel from a bar or restaurant to a local residence.

"On the weekend of 'The Big Game,' collisions should be confined to plays on the gridiron," said Paul Hernandez, an attorney at Kalfus & Nachman. "Our firm knows the cost of drunk driving all too well, which is why we want to provide an incentive to sports fans in Hampton Roads to call on someone for help if they don't feel they can get home safely."

Drivers don't need to be over the legal blood alcohol concentration limit of .08 to be a danger on the road. Being "buzzed" also compromises coordination, judgment and awareness, increasing the potential for an accident.

"Ultimately, 'buzzed' driving is drunk driving," Hernandez said. "If more people take that message to heart, I sincerely believe we'd see a decrease in drunk driving accidents and fatalities."

Instructions for receiving reimbursement through the Safe Ride Home program are available as a downloadable PDF on the Kalfus & Nachman website.
