/24-7PressRelease/ - April 07, 2008 - Kanekoa, fronted by 2 ripping ukuleles, is shown along with various releases of The Dave Mathews Band, Phish, Medeski, Martin & Wood, and The Black Crows. That's pretty good company for the only band with Hawaiian music roots, from the State of Hawaii to ever garner Norht American distribution.

"Way Down", the first single from "Under The Coconut Sky", was played on over 25 Triple A stations around the country, this marked the first time ukulele players from Hawaii have ever been heard on Norht American radio.

Kanekoa was featured in The Farrelly Brothers/Ben Stiller, Dreamworks comedy, "The Heartbreak Kid" . Kanekoa was the wedding band, and "Way Down" was heard during the entire wedding scene.

Kanekoa's version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", an iTunes exclusive, has been an international iTunes Folk chart hit for over 2 years. "Somewhere" has been Number 1 in the US, England, France, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Belgium, and Germany.

"Somewhere" was featured on the soundtrack album of "Marylin Hotchkiss' Ballroom Dancing and Charm School", starring, Robert Carlyle, Danny Devito, and, John Goodman. "Somewhere" was also featured on "The Pride of Brittan" with Tony Blair, and can be heard regularly on PGA Golf telecasts.

The next single from "Under The Coconut Sky", "Stranger Things" will be shipped to radio in mid-April. "Stranger Things", has a Beatles influenced chorus and is considered by many to be the song that will connect this band to a larger fan base.

Kanekoa will be featured in "Major Hana - The Movie", the directorial debut of Jonathan Block, a former AFI "Best Director" award winner.

Look for Kanekoa to embark on their first mainland tour this summer.

MTV think highly of Kanekoa - don't miss this new and exciting band.
