Katharine R. Rogers Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Film Direction

Ms. Rogers is a creative and innovate film director who draws on her personal experiences to give a voice to her work; often focusing on concepts of hope and happiness



    Newtown, New South Wales, Australia, March 25, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Katharine R. Rogers has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in film direction.

Upon completion of a Bachelor of Arts in communications studies at the University of Sunderland and a Master of Arts in media arts and production from the University of Technology, Ms. Rogers pursued a career in filmmaking. Throughout her expansive career, she has worked for such impressive organizations as the Sydney Opera House, The Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Sydney Film Festival. In 2011, she assumed a position as a short film director for Purple Door Productions. The film production company offers engaging short films and web series, as well as theater directing, script editing, and marketing services to an international demographic. In her role with the company, Ms. Rogers is responsible for writing, directing, and editing short films. With expertise in film and art programming and reviews, she also oversees all aspects of daily operations.

Recognized for invaluable contributions to the film and arts industry, Ms. Rogers has garnered several awards. In 2012, she was honored with the Artist in Residence award by the Archetype Gallery Sydney. She has also won awards for best direction and best film and, was nominated as a finalist at various short film festivals. One of her career highlights was seeing films (which she directed and/or produced) screened nationally on Foxtel and TVS Australia. Equally exciting was the time her short film "Crumb Catchers" was shown on a large cinema screen by paying customers who gave her work rave reviews. A natural leader, with superb creative and organizational skills, Ms. Rogers attributes her success to determination, persistence, and a willingness to learn and to fail.

Ms. Rogers is a member of Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance, on the selection panel for Flickerfest Short Film Festival, and an affiliate of Metroscreen, New Theater, and Artist Card. She is also charitably involved with Amnesty International and The American Red Cross. Outside the demands of her work, she enjoys traveling, knitting, writing, swimming, and tennis.
