She attributes her success to her drive and medical training.

In 1992, Dr. Bourne-Yearwood received a MBBS from The University of the West Indies at Mona, Jamaica. She did her undergraduate training in Physiology at the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. A member of the Grenada Medical Association, Dr. Bourne-Yearwood sponsors a child through Children International.
